Who makes MunchFiles
MunchFiles is made by Blue Lotus Laboratories, based in Georgia, USA.
Our mission
Blue Lotus Laboratories builds practical systems that turn difficult, uncertain problems into capabilities people can understand, verify and use.
We work across software, AI, robotics, sensing, fabrication and applied research, with a consistent principle: powerful systems should extend human capability without obscuring authority, evidence or consequence.
We build where we find a gap between what can be imagined and what can be reliably done.
Our story
Blue Lotus began in 2019 with a successful mobile auto repair and detailing brand, first as Blue Lotus Auto Repair in Acworth, Georgia, and later as BL Mobile Auto Repair, serving metro Atlanta. Working on customers’ cars, we kept seeing the same gap: people didn’t just need more explanation of how their vehicles worked. They needed better tools to understand them and stay engaged.
That mission outgrew what an automotive service could deliver on its own. Today Blue Lotus builds software and runs applied research, and MunchFiles is part of that work.
Our team works from two workshops equipped for software and hardware development, electronics fabrication, 3D printing, small-scale manufacturing and applied research.
Other work at Blue Lotus
- BLOSSOMOur institutional AI operating system. It gives AI tools a bounded place inside an organization by keeping identity, authority, state and execution separate, so models can help with real work without becoming the source of authority. In development.
- XenAn AI workplace: a shared board where AI agents and people pick up, discuss and finish work together. In development.
- J-SEARCHA research framework that tests whether different physical measurements reflect one shared underlying structure, using strict provenance and held-out predictions so it can’t invent connections. The long-term aim is to follow verified relations from quantum to relativistic physics.
- TacitusOur distributed sensing system: many low-cost, noisy sensor nodes whose combined readings reveal larger physical conditions that no single sensor can see. Tacitus gathers the observations; J-SEARCH tests whether the relationships it finds are real.
- MotorLabEmbodied machine learning: an experimental program for training and evaluating neural-network motor control against simulated and physical bodies, including sensing, actuation, balance and learned movement.
- Growing labA working hydroponic grow lab that doubles as the real-world sandbox for testing Tacitus.

What happens to your files
Normal conversions happen on your device, inside your browser. Your files are not uploaded to us or anyone else, and MunchFiles has no file storage.
You can check this yourself. Open your browser’s developer tools (F12 on most computers), go to the Network tab, and convert a file. You’ll see MunchFiles load its own code, and nothing carrying your file going out.
When MunchFiles can’t convert a file safely, it stops and tells you why instead of handing you a broken result.
How MunchFiles makes money
- Basic file conversions are free. No account, no watermark. Pro adds Batch, Shrink, PDF tools and offline use.
- MunchFiles Pro is an optional one-time purchase ($9, once, no subscription) for power tools and an installed copy that works offline.
- No ads, and we don’t sell data.
Built on open-source software
MunchFiles uses these libraries, served from this site:
- pdf.js 6.2.108 by Mozilla (Apache License 2.0) draws PDF pages.
- pdf-lib 1.17.1 (MIT License) merges, splits and rearranges PDF pages.
- js-yaml 4.2.0 (MIT License) reads and writes YAML.
Their license files are included with the site under /vendor/.

We don’t need your files to help. If a file won’t convert, open Technical details and choose Save these details as a file: it describes the file (type, size, first bytes) without any of its contents, and you can attach that instead.
